Trade between East Kazakhstan and EAEU countries grows by 1/3

International Business News  –  Kazakhstan Capital Network News, according to the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of Kazakhstan, from January to May this year, East Kazakhstan’s exports to the Eurasian Economic Union countries increased by 28.8%, reaching more than 359.5 million US dollars, and the total mutual trade increased by 29%.

East Kazakhstan region has the highest mutual trade volume with Russia. From January to May 2022, exports to Russia exceeded US$342.7 million, a year-on-year increase of 28.2%, and imports increased by 32% to US$705.6 million.

According to statistics in May 2022, the export value of East Kazakhstan to Russia is 70.2 million US dollars, and the import value is 175.5 million US dollars. The main structure of exports is that mineral products account for 51.6% of the total share, non-precious metals and their products -36.2%, and vegetable products -5.2%. The main import structure from Russia is: mineral products -52.1%, vegetable products -13.1%, non-precious metals and their products -8.1%, and chemical and related industrial products -7.5%.

From January to May this year, the value of East Kazakhstan’s exports to Belarus fell by 17% to $3.3 million. Imports from the country totaled $15.4 million, a 5% decrease from the same period last year. In May, exports to Belarus amounted to $300,000 and imports amounted to $2.4 million.

From January to May, the export value of East Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan was 13.2 million US dollars. It was an increase of 69.2% over the same period of last year, and the imported goods from Kyrgyzstan amounted to 58.3 million US dollars, an increase of 10.1%. In May, East Kazakhstan’s exports to Kyrgyzstan totaled $3.1 million. Imports amounted to 15.2 million US dollars.
