Vietnam’s pangasius exports to increase by nearly 90% in 2022

International Business News  –  Vietnam’s “Customs Online” reported on June 20 that according to the Vietnam Aquatic Products Export and Processing Association, the export value of Vietnamese pangasius in the first five months of 2022 reached 1.21 billion US dollars, a substantial increase of nearly 90% year-on-year.

The association said that thanks to the strong recovery of demand in the international consumer market, the export of pangasius products to China, the United States, and CPTPP (Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership) countries and other markets has increased significantly, of which exports to the Chinese market. The value reached US$320 million, a year-on-year increase of 124%, the export to the US market was US$310 million, a year-on-year increase of 131%, and the value of exports to the CPTPP member countries reached US$150 million, a year-on-year increase of 64%. The association believes that due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the export volume of Russian minnow has dropped by 60%. As a high-quality and inexpensive high-quality alternative product, Vietnamese pangasius just takes the opportunity to fill the gap in the international white meat fish consumption market. It is expected that Vietnam will export pangasius in 2022. The amount can reach 2.6 billion US dollars.
